The whole lower 48 treats AK as an afterthought.
That's unfair. WDC treats Alaska as land of perpetual cold, person-eating polar bears, person-eating hatchet wielding individuals who have been off their meds for decades and proto-Russians who we let vote in our presidential elections.
The curse of not being part of the continental 48, I guess...
