Audience measurement

Bluvy Tube measures its own audience with two tools it runs itself — a first-party view counter and a self-hosted Matomo instance. Both exist purely for internal statistics; neither is used for advertising or shared with anyone.

  • View counter. When you watch a video, an anonymous first-party cookie (bluvy_visitor_id) is set so the same visitor isn't counted twice for one video. It holds no account, name or IP address, and its lifetime is capped at 13 months without being extended on each visit.
  • Site analytics (Matomo). A self-hosted Matomo instance records aggregate usage — pages viewed, where visitors came from, internal searches. It runs without any cookie, anonymises IP addresses, and is served entirely from Bluvy Tube's own domain, so no request ever reaches a third party.
  • Internal activity log. Bluvy Tube also records, in its own database, how the platform is used (pages viewed, videos shown and opened, playback, searches, likes, follows…) for its internal statistics on traffic and on how well pages and search perform. Each event is tied only to the random identifier of the bluvy_visitor_id cookie — never to your account, even when you're signed in. Detailed events are deleted after 90 days; only anonymous daily totals are kept for 25 months.
  • None of these tools tracks you across other websites, builds an advertising profile, or links your activity to your account. The cookie lives for at most 13 months.

These tools meet the CNIL's criteria for consent-exempt internal audience measurement (exclusively statistical purpose, no cross-referencing with other processing, information and an opt-out), which is why Bluvy Tube shows no cookie banner.

How to opt out

Bluvy Tube automatically honors the Global Privacy Control signal sent by your browser or an extension — when it's on, the view counter, the activity log and Matomo are all disabled, so no cookie is set and nothing is recorded. You can usually enable it in your browser's privacy settings or via a browser extension. If you have an account, the "Don't measure my activity" option in your preferences also turns the activity log off.

You can also opt out of Matomo specifically: Manage my Matomo opt-out

Time to take a break

You've been watching videos for 30 minutes straight: give yourself 5 minutes away from the screen. Stand up, stretch, grab a glass of water… Your videos will be right here when you're back.
