MegaRace for the 3DO was another game that used a pre-rendered FMV as a way to fake its 3D look Your "speed" would then determine the playback of the movie, with the car sprites simply superimposed on top of the video.

#DukeNukem 3D has just landed on the #SNES in this new #romhack demo by "Cacodemontube" Over 1½ years in development, this hack was built on top of SNES #Doom by @randallinden.bsky.social but with a full #Duke3D audiovisual overhaul Patch: mega.nz/file/V9AUwIA... #retrogaming #romhacking #gaming

Got another really impressive #NES #homebrew for you tonight This one by "shioken" over on Twitter, is inspired by the #arcade racer "Power Drift" The way it achieves this is by storing the track as a FMV. A technique we've seen in other #retro games too #retrogaming #Nintendo #retrogames #NESDev

#Doom is headed for the #NES! Okay, not really, but now that I've got your attention This cool little #homebrew by "NancyGold" does pull off a somewhat interesting ray-casting engine for the 8-bit toaster Download ROM here: nancygold.itch.io/doom-nes #retrogaming #gaming #retro #NESDev #Nintendo

I'm not exactly sure what kind of technical tricks, FRPG wizardry or sacrificial blood rituals are going on here but An experimental #SuperMario 64 #homebrew has apparently made it's way to the #Vectrex Created by "Dani Ferrer" Audio by "Arcade Jason #retrogaming #Mario #N64 #gaming #Nintendo

At first glance, the #NES & #Atari 7800 might come off as somewhat similar 8-bit hardware But in actuality, the way the 2 handle graphics is completely different Which makes this W.I.P conversion of #Contra all the more impressive www.7800tools.com/conversion-r... #retrogaming #homebrew #gamedev

The #Vectrex was a formidable, unique piece of tech that delivered visuals unlike anything else you'd see on a home system of that era. And even in 2026, we still see some cool #homebrew projects popping up now and then Like this cool wireframe demo by "shige-ruuu" #gamedev #gaming #retrogaming

It hasn't been long since I shared news on "Budfolk" and their #Atari #Jaguar racing engine And yet, a LOT has happened since. The engine has become a lot more versatile and is now aiming to replicate the "Cruis'n USA" experience instead of NFS youtu.be/lCzv7W9DKzg #retrogaming #homebrew #gamedev

The "Super ZNES" #emulator has just gotten upgraded to version 0.300b With this comes plenty of new features, functions and QoL updates. Especially in the enhancement chip department. This update even brings SuperFX3 support to the table! www.zsnes.com #retrogaming #gaming #SNES #Nintendo #ZSNES

Every since @modernvintagegamer.com posted their video on whether #Doom would be possible on the #NeoGeo, the internet seem to have taken it as a challenge, with several projects having popped up since This one goes for an FMV approach Full vid youtu.be/QV31tyJocyk #retrogaming #homebrew #gamedev

We've seen a couple of interesting attempts and different approaches lately to getting #Doom to run on #NeoGeo hardware But let us not ignore that some impressive work has also been done on getting #Wolfenstein 3D running on it Full video youtu.be/9Oth22kYyCg #homebrew #retrogaming #Wolf3D #gaming
