Fixing Family Courts Before becoming an MP, I worked for a domestic abuse charity and spent countless hours in family courts supporting women and children fleeing violence. I saw first-hand how children were sometimes required to spend time with a parent who had been abusive in their home.

But a violent parent is not a good parent.

Too often, family courts are making life-changing decisions without fully understanding the impact of domestic abuse on children.
Our family courts must put children's safety first. That means specialist domestic abuse training across the system, better recognition of coercive control, and stronger protections for children and survivors.
