I got my drivers license in roughly 1972 (!) in Philadelphia because you didn’t have to parallel park to pass, and I was forum-shopping my divorced parents. To this day, I am still not good at the task. Seems like a constructive step to me.

Hubby and I were visiting Philly. While dining at sidewalk table, we watched a guy box a car in when he parallel parked. We talked about what a jerk he was. A woman got in that boxed in car a few minutes later and zipped right out. We were stunned. Philly drivers are badass.

I believe they figured out that they're not really useful in these situations. Even the collision sensor beeping is more annoying than anything, because you WANT your bumper to be in the "danger zone".
